Een verhaal van engagement voor de natuur<\/h2>\n

Het avontuur van onze vzw Sauvons Bambi<\/strong> begon in 2020<\/strong>. Gealarmeerd door een bevriende landbouwer die wanhopig was omdat hij elk jaar gemaaide reekalfjes terugvond, besloot C\u00e9dric actie te ondernemen. Hij informeerde naar de methoden die onlangs in Duitsland<\/strong> en Zwitserland<\/strong> waren getest. Hij rustte zichzelf uit met een drone voorzien van een thermische camera<\/strong> om dieren op te sporen die onzichtbaar zijn voor het menselijk oog. Hij slaagde in zijn eerste reddingen en richtte vervolgens de vzw op, die een aanzienlijke ontwikkeling zou doormaken in Belgi\u00eb en het Groothertogdom Luxemburg. <\/span><\/p>\n

Red de wilde fauna van ons platteland<\/h2>\n

Tijdens de maaiperiode, wanneer de dag nauwelijks aanbreekt, zijn de vrijwilligers van de vzw Sauvons Bambi al aan het werk. Met behulp van drones uitgerust met thermische camera’s<\/strong> vliegen zij gratis over de velden v\u00f3\u00f3r het maaien om de levens te redden die verborgen zitten in het hoge gras. Hun missie: het opsporen en beschermen<\/strong> van reekalfjes, jonge hazen en grondbroedende vogels v\u00f3\u00f3r de passage van landbouwmachines. Elke redding is een ware overwinning voor de wilde fauna en de biodiversiteit<\/strong>! <\/span><\/p>\n

Aan het begin van de lente vormen onze weilanden een natuurlijk toevluchtsoord<\/strong> voor talrijke wilde dieren. Elk jaar verliezen duizenden van hen het leven<\/strong> in vreselijke pijn, ondanks alle voorzorgsmaatregelen die door de terreinactoren worden genomen tijdens de periode van het hooimaaien<\/strong>, die samenvalt met de geboorteperiode<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Veel wilde dieren van ons platteland werpen hun jongen in het hoge gras<\/strong> om hun nageslacht te beschermen tegen roofdieren<\/strong>. Dit beschermingsinstinct zorgt ervoor dat de reegeit op afstand van haar kalf blijft om er geen geur op achter te laten. Ze rust dus in de buurt terwijl ze haar jong(en) in het oog houdt. Het reekalf heeft van zijn kant het instinct om onbeweeglijk<\/strong> en stil te blijven om niet ontdekt te worden. <\/span><\/p>\n

Van hun kant bouwen sommige vogels<\/strong> hun nesten direct op de grond, in wintergranen en dicht gras. Wat de hazen<\/strong> betreft, zij kiezen voor de winterploeglanden en diezelfde graanvelden om te werpen en hun jongen groot te brengen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wanneer de landbouwmachines in actie komen, wordt het instinct van deze wilde dieren hun ergste vijand: bij gevaar bewegen ze niet<\/strong>. In plaats van te vluchten, blijven ze tegen de grond gedrukt, in de overtuiging dat hun onbeweeglijkheid voldoende zal zijn om hen te beschermen. Maar tegen de messen van de maaiers laat deze strategie hen geen enkele kans<\/strong>… Dat is waar wij tussenbeide komen: onze thermische camera’s<\/strong> stellen ons in staat hen te detecteren voordat het te laat is. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wanneer landbouwmachines velden maaien, doden ze onbewust de dieren die zich daar verbergen. De kadavers in ontbinding<\/strong> cre\u00ebren een omgeving die gunstig is voor de ontwikkeling van botulisme<\/strong>, een dodelijke bacterie. Vermengd met de oogst bestemd voor veevoer, besmet deze runderen<\/strong>, schapen<\/strong> en paarden<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Deze plaag kan leiden tot aanzienlijke verliezen<\/strong> voor landbouwbedrijven. Zodra botulisme zich vestigt, breiden de gevolgen zich uit naar de gehele voedselketen<\/strong>, wat de voedselveiligheid<\/strong> van boerderijen en veehouderijen in gevaar brengt. Onze tussenkomst helpt deze catastrofe te voorkomen. Wij handelen direct bij de bron door de dood van verborgen dieren te voorkomen<\/strong> tijdens het maaien, en daarmee de ontwikkeling van botulisme<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Om hun veiligheid te waarborgen, worden de reekalfjes geplaatst in geschikte kisten<\/strong> (2 kisten van 30 cm hoog die op elkaar zijn geplaatst en verzegeld met colsonbandjes) of een linnen zak<\/strong> (afhankelijk van de leeftijd van het kalf), door u voorbereid. De dieren worden gehanteerd met wegwerphandschoenen<\/strong> om ervoor te zorgen dat er geen geur op het dier wordt achtergelaten<\/strong>.
De kisten worden op een rustige plek geplaatst, weg van lawaai en in de schaduw aan de bosrand. De landbouwwerkzaamheden<\/strong> moeten vervolgens onverwijld worden uitgevoerd<\/strong>! Een reekalf kan bijvoorbeeld niet langer dan 3 tot 4 uur<\/strong> blijven zonder door zijn moeder te worden gezoogd. De tijd dringt dus! <\/p>\n

De landbouwer is verantwoordelijk voor het in vrijheid stellen<\/strong> van de wilde dieren in de best mogelijke omstandigheden na het maaien. Ze moeten snel worden vrijgelaten<\/strong> na de landbouwwerkzaamheden en aan de bosrand<\/strong>. Geen zorgen over de reekalfjes: de reegeit is nooit ver weg.
Dit reddingsproces, dat al jaren wordt gebruikt door verenigingen zonder winstoogmerk in heel Europa, stelt de dieren in staat om in alle veiligheid terug te keren naar hun natuurlijke omgeving. Dit proces is gevalideerd door het D\u00e9partement de l’\u00c9tude du Milieu naturel et agricole (DEMNA<\/strong>). <\/p>\n

Wij organiseren sensibiliseringsacties<\/strong> bij landbouwers, jagers, loonwerkers en landeigenaren om hen bewust te maken van de gevaren van het maaien voor de wilde fauna en het vee<\/strong>. Wij tonen aan dat er eenvoudige, effectieve en toegankelijke oplossingen bestaan om de natuur te beschermen en tegelijkertijd de landbouwbedrijven te beveiligen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wij bieden alle kandidaat-vrijwillige piloten een gespecialiseerde opleiding<\/strong> aan in het gebruik van drones uitgerust met thermische camera’s<\/strong>. De nieuwe kandidaten leren de drones te besturen, de thermische beelden te analyseren en effectieve interventies te organiseren om dieren op te sporen die in de velden verborgen zitten. <\/span> <\/p>\n

We hebben ook een peterschapssysteem<\/strong> opgezet: nieuwe piloten profiteren van persoonlijke begeleiding bij hun eerste missies dankzij de meer ervaren piloten. Het doel is hen een omkadering te bieden die het delen van ervaringen op het terrein mogelijk maakt. <\/span><\/p>\n

Via een partner gespecialiseerd in reddingsoperaties biedt Sauvons Bambi de verkoop van DJI-drones uitgerust met thermische camera’s<\/strong> aan. Deze drones zijn een oplossing om velden te beveiligen en de wilde fauna voor elke maaibeurt in volledige autonomie te beschermen. Onze teams verzorgen een opleiding in thermische detectie om een maximale effici\u00ebntie te garanderen voor de nieuwe kandidaat-vrijwillige piloten. <\/span><\/p>\n

Deze gegevens zijn waardevol voor terreinbeheerders, biologen en natuurbeschermingsorganisaties, omdat ze een nauwkeurig beeld geven van de biodiversiteit in Belgi\u00eb. Zo testen we momenteel teloperaties voor patrijzen in het voorjaar<\/strong>, in samenwerking met het DEMNA. <\/span><\/p>\n

Het stelt ons in staat om drones uitgerust met thermische camera’s<\/strong> aan te schaffen, die helaas erg duur zijn, evenals andere uitrusting die onmisbaar is voor onze reddingsacties. Onze donateurs dragen ook bij aan het dekken van de verplaatsingskosten<\/strong> van onze vrijwilligers en de algemene kosten<\/strong> die nodig zijn voor de werking van de vereniging.
